The coast of Portugal truly has many different things to offer.
From impressive cliffs over stunning beaches, it surely catches the eye.
But what kind of activities can you explore at this incredible place?
We will find it out in this blog post!
1. Boats Tour
This is probably the most offered activity on Portugal’s coast.
No matter where you go, you will find tons of different advertisements for various boat tours.
In my opinion, the best two places for the start of a boat tour are either Portmião or Faro.
From both, you can go to the cliffs, and also you can go to a variety of smaller islands surrounding the South of Portugal.
One boat tour I personally took was a pirate boat tour from Portimão that included the exploration of the caves by a smaller boat.
The feeling and the view on the boat were just so indescribable, I recommend it to everyone!
2. Surfing and Other Water Sports
If you visit Portugal during summer you should definitely go swimming.
During the hot temperatures, it is especially refreshing to hop into the chilly ocean or to feel a cold sea breeze.
If you are more adventurous you can also try a huge selection of water sports like kayaking, windsurfing, and surfing among others.
The only disadvantage is, that it might get really crowded during the peak season and it gets hard to find a spot where you are really alone or with barely any people.
3. Explore the Cliffs and Caves
For exploring the cliffs and caves you have two options: either you explore them from underneath by boat or from above by foot.
Although the cliffs and caves are very impressive by boat, I would recommend exploring them from above because the view from there is just amazing.
To do so, you can park your car at various free parking lots along the beach or you book a group tour.
If you go by car, I suggest parking your car at the Estacionamento Praia Albandeira and starting your walking tour from there.
If you only want to see the famous Benagil cave, you will also have some parking lots nearby.
4. Dolphin and Whale Watching
This one is for animal lovers who are not visiting the mainland of Portugal but are vacationing on Madeira.
In Madeira Funchal is the spot to go where you can find tours that offer dolphin and whale watching.
The experience usually lasts 3 hours so you will definitely have the chance to take a lot of pictures of these incredible creatures or just watch them in awe passing by your boat.
It will definitely be a lifetime experience and something you won’t forget.
