After I lived in Seoul for quite a while I became bored of seeing always the same stuff and doing the same things.

Don’t get me wrong, sightseeing in Seoul is amazing. But if you are not a tourist and have lived there longer than just a few months, routine hits, and boredom comes.

Therefore, I searched for new ways to discover Seoul or to try new activities with my friends to solve this issue.

So, here are 5 things that you can do in Seoul that you won’t find in any recommendation lists or travel guides to spice up your stay in Seoul.

1. Roller Skating

You probably didn’t know it but Seoul has several roller skating rinks that you can explore.

The atmosphere reminds me a bit of a club because there are usually some disco lights and good music to vibe to.

I personally went to the Roller City (롤러씨티) but unfortunately, due to Covid this place shut down for good.

An alternative place would be Go Go Rent (고고랜드 홈플러스영등포점) which has a similar atmosphere as the Roller City I have been to.

Costs

Admission ticket for 2 hours 30 min: adults 13,000 Won

2. Kayaking on the Han River

I think kayaking at the Han River was one of the best things I have done in Seoul.

First, it is a really great exercise and you will definitely need some stamina if you want to go far with your kayak since the ride is two hours long but it is a lot of fun!

A bonus point is that you have a great view of Namsan and the Lotte Tower and that you have the opportunity to book your time slot during the sunset which I highly recommend.

Our guide was also really kind and took a lot of pictures during our kayak ride.

If you are not a big fan of kayaking you can also try other water sports like windsurfing among others.

Costs

if you book through get your guide you can get the ticket for only 30,000 WON.

3. Sports Monster Hanam

Another place for sports enthusiasts is the Sports Monster Hanam.

Here you can go through rope courses, play darts, do rock climbing and much more.

Because there is so much to do and to try you have to be careful about the time limit of two hours, but you definitely won’t get bored here.

Costs

admission ticket for 2 hours: adults 24,000 Won

4. Concert at the Lotte Concert Hall

Seeing a concert at the Lotte Concert Hall is quite magical.

I personally went there to see Final Fantasy In Concert and I absolutely didn’t get disappointed.

Just the hall itself is so impressive that it takes your breath away.

So, if you are a concert lover then you should definitely book a ticket and go there.

Costs

prices vary depending on the concert.
you can get further information about the program and the costs on the website of the concert hall: [link to the website]

5. Underground Performances

You aren’t a big fan of K-Pop but rather into Indie, Rock, or alternative music?

Then this tip is for you!

In Seoul, there are many underground performances of alternative artists and newcomers to the music industry.

One place that is popular for hosting such events is Cafe Unplugged located near Hongik University (Line 2).

This is the perfect place to meet up with friends and at the same time listen to new tunes and get in touch with creative people.

Costs

free of charge.
sometimes a fee of 10,000 Won in exchange for a free drink will be charged.
